The Havels & Claudio
Donzelli Concert

Join us on 29th October as we gather around the piano for a cosy afternoon of beautiful music in our lobby.  The Havels – Irena and Vojtech Havlovi – will be in town from Prague and will open the show. We first met these gentle and sensitive musicians last year when they joined us for Michelberger Music. We were treated to an intimate performance again in the summer just gone at the hotel, ()

AWEFEKT
PEOPLE JAM

Next Wednesday 13 September Jeremy Black and Trever Hagen return to the hotel to make some experimental analog electronic music together. Working as AWEFEKT, Jeremy and Trever met last year at Michelberger Music and started sharing sounds at April Base studios. Jeremy is a music producer and Trever creates textural sounds using the trumpet. Both come from an improvisation background and we can expect Wednesday’s PEOPLE jam to be experimental and free form, ()

Copenhaven
Report

Some magic happened last weekend in Copenhagen. A part of the hotel and the monkey team banded together to explore the HAVEN Festival. Equipped with super duper bikes the journey through the city began with a wonderful dinner Thursday evening and some nice drinks at the temporary HAVEN Bar in the heart of the city. Strengthened by a huge breakfast the first festival day started with an exceptional opening: The ()

Thank you
to The Havels…

…for that beautiful and intimate performance. It’s always a treat to watch and listen to musicians who work together the way these two do.

Havels

Irena and Vojtech Havlovi were with us in Berlin last autumn for Michelberger Music. These gentle and sensitive musicians will be back at the hotel next week and will perform in our lobby on Friday 30 June. Working together as The Havels, this couple say very few words, but communicate expressively through their music. Bryce Dessner said this about them: “In the late 1980’s my sister Jessica heard two Czech ()

It’s time
to hybridize

Our friend and fellow funkhaus comrade Vincent Moon has just finished a very special project together with his wife Priscilla Telmon. For the past three years they have immersed themselves in an experimental-ethnographic study of current day spiritual cults in Brazil. They will soon begin presenting their incredible work around the world, and we’re delighted that one of their stops along the way this summer will be here at the hotel. Here’s some further information ()

Overlook –
The Drink

During Michelberger Music, our Overlook room on the fourth floor became unofficial afterhours music making headquarters at the hotel. Naturally, a libation was usually required, and often obtained at the bar on the way up to the top of the hotel. So the bar team came up with something energising, refreshing and strong to power those collaborative sessions into the small hours. This is how Overlook – the drink – is made: ()

Black Magic Baby Jesus –
Exhibition & Performance by Ramin Krause

We met Ramin when he was here for Michelberger Music, alongside Vincent Moon and his crew of filmmakers. A couple of weeks ago Ramin told us about a special project he has been working on… One year ago I sailed on a sail boat around the South Pacific and when our boat broke, I was stranded on a small Island. I ended up staying for 6 months, living in villages ()

Not having to fulfil any roles or deliver what people expect from them. Free of commercial interest, brands or music business. Doing something just for this moment. No matter what. No matter what people write about it, no matter what people say about it. Just giving ()
