The Monkey Loooves
Liquid Garden

As is often the case in life, it was the culmination of many varied experiences that led Nils Bernau to where he is now; putting thoughtfully selected ingredients into a Vitamix to be blended into green smoothies and served at his Prenzlauer Berg store. With a background in restaurants, wine and even a stint cooking in a commercial kitchen, it turns out opening a shop which sells smoothies, juices and ()

The Monkey Loooves
Father Carpenter Coffee Brewers

Krésten Thøgersen relocated from Melbourne to Berlin for one reason – to open a cafe that people left happier than when they arrived. His mission statement: To up the quality of life. Krésten opened Father Carpenter Coffee Brewers in Mitte in January 2015, and so far it looks like his purpose is being achieved. After spending some time in Berlin in 2009, Krésten felt that the city was missing a certain something in relation to ()

The Monkey Loooves
Let It Be

Berlin is fast becoming known as one of the vegan and vegetarian capitals of the world, often taking top spot on lists compiled by everyone from vegan bloggers to established culinary magazines. There’s a definite momentum surrounding food that comes from plants in this city, and for this installment of The Monkey Loooves, we met with Nina and Red, owners of Let It Be. Their cosy vegan restaurant is in Neukölln and ()

The Monkey Loooves

It was sometime in the mid 1990s and the place was New York. Kai Bröer was visiting from Berlin and stumbled across a cafe called Newsbar. They sold coffee and bagels, had an extensive selection of newspapers and magazines, and televisions mounted on the wall screening CNN. This was when cafes could be a place for people to go and read the paper. Before smartphones and iPads, wandering down to ()

The monkey loooves

It’s an exciting time to be in Berlin. People are arriving here from all over, and bringing with them the ideas they have about the things they are passionate about. They’re coming here, taking chances, and shaking things up! To our eyes, this is resulting in a refreshing culture emerging of small, independent, family run businesses who are not afraid to do things their own way. We wanted to take ()

Our friends
In Copenhagen / Part 2

After the Copenhagen Beer Celebration, we grabbed some coconut water and headed over to Paper Island for the grand opening of Copenhagen Street Food. The sun was shining and so were the people and here are some impressions of the day:

Street Food

This Friday 2nd May, we’re very excited to have a stand at the grand opening of Copenhagen Street Food to introduce our Fountain Of Youth to all the vikings there. Copenhagen Street Food is the baby of our dear friends Dan Husted, his wife Natasha, his friend Ruben and probably some other people we don’t know yet and after many months of hard work they finally had the soft opening last week. Delivering the goods!

Recently we met a new friend named Chanyu. She is the heart behind EATÜBER, a food delivery startup focused on bringing healthy tasty food directly to the people of Berlin.  In speaking to her, one soon realizes what a tall order this represents – delivering healthy, handmade, straight from the oven food that is also tasty! The menu has many highlights for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. The chocolate cake ()

Email received today from Yve: — “This girl, Irene, ordered a 3-er set of Fountain of Youth in our online shop. Something wasn’t working well while ordering so I got in contact with her to find a solution. She told me she needs FOY urgently coz she is in pain and can´t eat – due to a wisdom tooth surgery. We offered her some monkey love to get better soon and ()
