The next guest chef in our PAIR series is London’s Anna Tobias. On Thursday 14 June she’ll be presenting her modern interpretation of classic British cooking.
Anna started her career under at the tutelage of Jeremy Lee at the Blueprint Café before a stretch at the seminal River Cafe in London. After that she was head chef at Rochelle Canteen for almost 4 years, where she created a menu that (as The Guardian put it) “whispered of the past while being resolutely contemporary”. Anna reached the final of the Young British Foodies chef category and was also nominated for Best Newcomer in the London Restaurant Awards. She was featured in the Observer Food Monthly’s ‘Top 50’ and she’s a contributing writer to The Guardian’s food supplement “Cook”.
The food Anna loves to cook is simple and very produce driven. As she says, “I try to bring the best out of the ingredients I am using without fussing with them too much. I consider myself a classic cook, and I believe my food encourages people to appreciate the qualities of classic cooking. A lightness of touch and respect for produce is something that I always try to bring to my food”.
On the 14th Anna will present a meal family style over several courses. It will start with nibbles such as Devilled Eggs and Anchovy ‘Matchsticks’ and move onto dishes such as smoked eel with broad beans and parsley crumbs, before finishing with a dessert of poached apricots, elderflower and custard.
Emily will match the food with a personal and varied wine selection, and will guide guests through the pairing in her informative and engaging way!
We’ve got our fingers crossed for a pleasant summer evening so that the dinner can take place in our courtyard!
Tickets are 75€ for food and wine and can be booked via firstname.lastname@example.org or 030 297 78590
